I haven’t really gotten any tangible gifts this year, because we’ve been, uh, dirt-poor.
My girlfriend made me a mix-tape (mp3 playlist! :D), which was awesome, because nobody’s ever done that for me before, and it was full of songs I hadn’t heard before, or songs that I love.
I don’t remember what I got for my birthday (I’m not ungrateful, just forgetful) and I don’t have it written down anywhere.
When my big sister came back from her honeymoon, she was kind enough to bring me back a pack of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, which was amazing, because it’s been more than a year since I’ve had any. When I opened a random box of things on Christmas from her, I was thrilled to see that she’d bought be the Harry Potter Blu-Ray set (years 1 through 6) but underneath all of that there was a bar of RUM AND RAISIN MARZIPAN from Aldi.
I will admit, this excited me more than anything else, because Mum and Dad had given me two bars of Hazelnut Praline marzipan in my stocking and I had jokingly complained that they hadn’t given me Rum & Raisin marzipan, which is my favourite kind.
So yeah, I was most excited about Rum & Raisin marzipan, even more than the amazing centenary edition of Peter Pan & Wendy, Harry Potter on Blu-Ray, and the amazing smelly body things that Lorna got me.
But I think, if I can be cheesy, the greatest gift that I’ve had this year, are my friends and family.
I’m not even kidding.
I have had such a bad year in places, and my friends have put up with me taking surly moods and just not talking to them.
My family put up with me and my moods and staying in my room all the time, and my Mum and Dad run me to and from my exercise classes and gym and swimming when they can and complain rarely.
The comments I get on here are amazing, too. I honestly don’t know how I could do this without y’all. I know that’s, like, cheese with extra cheese and a slice of cheese on top with a big cheese bun or whatever, but seriously.
YOU ALL are my best gift. 🙂
Y’all are better than Rum & Raisin marzipan and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
And a hell of a lot less calorific.
