I’ve been going to Spinning since March 2010.
I’ve pretty much worn the same trainers (or sneakers, for you American-English readers) the entire time I’ve been going, with three exceptions, when I tried to wear a different pair of trainers that I owned at the time, and my feet hated me for days after.
I noticed, about six months ago, that, along the sole of my trainers, that there’s a mark from where the pedal of my Spinning bike always sits. It’s like a groove. I’m pretty proud of my pedal groove, but it can make Spinning awkward, if I get the wrong bike and the pedal doesn’t sit in the pedal groove properly.
This morning, however, I got on my bike (I got in early and snagged #21 up to my spot second top of the class, next to Eddie) and…
Something felt off.
It was like there was something poking into the bottom, left-side of my left foot. I figured that my foot was positioned incorrectly, and quickly corrected my stance, and my foot felt a little better.
But every time I sat down and stood up, the poking feeling came back and I’d need to correct my stance to get rid of the poking feeling.
When I was finished with Spinning, I walked to my little sister’s house, and when I sat down, I took off my left trainer to take a look at the sole of my shoe, and…
It’s pretty much like the pedal of the bike has sliced my sole in half. (Not completely, but there’s a HOLE at the left hand side that’s now letting in water.)
I checked the right shoe, and it’s the same, but on the right side. Both outer edges of my trainers are wrecked.
I can’t really complain. I’ve had these trainers since summer of 2008 and I’ve been using them for Spinning for a year and a half, but MAN. I’m currently trying to figure out what I can cut out of my budget for the next couple of weeks (breakfast cereal, Lucozade Lite and soda, it looks like) in order to be able to buy a new pair of trainers.
I’d love to be able to buy a pair of Spinning shoes, but I can’t go on the elliptical and go to Zumba in Spinning shoes, and Spinning shoes cost a SMALL FORTUNE.
Oh, the joys of exercise, and the woes that it causes.
Anybody got a pair of size UK9.5 trainers they can give me? *grin*Let's get social:
