Fatso’s Top 5 Summer Treats

It’s actually getting pretty warm here in Scotland, so I figured: what better way to kick off the new subblog than making a list of my top 5 summer treats?

As much as I hate the heat, I’m a sucker for it as well! I love decking out with a good book and some ice cream cones or ice cream tubs or ice cream or strawberries and cream or…

You get the idea.

Here are a few lower-calorie treat options!

  • 5. Tesco’s 10 Cherryade, Lemonade and Cola Lollies

    I first bought these a month or two ago, and I’m already itching to go back to Tesco to get more! Luckily, my parents bought a box at the same time, so there are still some lollies left in their freezer… *evil grin* The flavours in these lollies are lovely, and while they’re not carbonated, the Lemonade flavour definitely has enough zest in it that it tastes like it is!

    They have a pretty small ingredients list, and have no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, and come in at under 50 calories each.

  • 4. Gina’s Simply Obsessed Frozen Coconut Mango Pops
  • Gina over at Skinny Taste posted this yesterday, and I just – I need to remember to get a mango when I’m grocery shopping tomorrow, and to get my popsicle mould from Mum and Dad’s house, because mango + coconut + frozen together? Yes pls.

    Coming in at under 70 calories, you can bet this is going to be a decadently skinny frozen treat.

  • 3. ASDA Cider Lollies

    Mum originally bought these last summer, and I’ve been pretty much addicted to them ever since. There’s no actual alcohol in them, so don’t worry about that! It’s just apple juice. But it’s DELICIOUS APPLE JUICE. And at only 60 calories per lolly, that’s a bargain.

    There’s probably some way to replicate these at home, but considering the cost of apple juice, these lollies are way cheaper. Good luck getting your hands on them in our local ASDA, though…

  • 2. Fruit Pastilles Ice Lollies

    I was introduced to these lovely lollies while I was living in Ireland and doing the Weight Watchers’ Core Plan. I believe it was my amazing leader, Trish, who said they were coming out, and they were only a Point or two. I don’t know what they are now in terms of ProPoints, but they’re worth every calorie and every point. 61kcal per lolly. 5 delicious, mouthwatering flavours. DEFINITELY NOT ENOUGH LOLLIES IN THE WORLD. *laughing*

  • 1. Frozen Grapes

    The best tip I ever got from aforementioned Trish (I miss you, Trish!). Frozen grapes. I have no idea of the calories in grapes, as it obviously depends on the portion, so do a Google search for your grape portion’s nutritional information and then put them into little plastic sandwich bags and FREEZE THOSE BABIES! Then ENJOY.

    Tip: use them in your wine/soda/water to chill it down without watering down your drink! And then just fish them out and eat them. 🙂
