400s, exercise, non-scale victory, sparkpeople, swimming

Back in the water.

Went to the pool again last night. Apparently, there’s a couple of people who are always in at the same time on a Monday night, and we stood for a minute and complained about the ignorant bastards who never paid a single bit of attention to anybody else in the pool but themselves.

I was in the water for 75 minutes, and was swimming for 60 of those – breaststroke, 15 laps.

(If you calculate, 15 laps = 30 lengths. 1 length = 25m. 30×25 = 750m. 1 mile = 1,600m. Therefore, 30 lengths is almost a half mile. If I’d been a better calculator, I’d have figured out that 32 lengths is actually a mile. But yeah.

Next time, I’ll go for the 32, and that’ll be even better.

For the moment, however, I’m thrilled that I managed 30 lengths. I managed it with barely a break in between, and even when I was resting, I was treading water. Keeping myself moving.

And like I said, I’m thrilled that I managed 30 lengths! It took a lot out of me, and my arms and legs hated me when I walked up the steps to get out of the water, but it was totally worth it. Every single second of it was worth it.

Got to check out their gym, too – not the biggest gym in the world, and I think all of the ellipticals and treadmills were full, but there were also leg curl machines and weights, so it might be worth taking the induction and going for a session or two, to see how I like it. The downside’s the price, but I’ve got myself a concession card, which will bring the price down.

We’ll see how it goes.
