In Which Fatso Goes The Distance
So, I signed up for Robby’s challenge, Go The Distance, in January, and set myself a year-long target of 2,400 miles between Spin class and the stationary bike.
It’s now into the third quarter, which means we’ve passed the first half of the year, and I did pretty well! I managed to hit my half-year target by 116.78%, and I chose a haircut as my reward. I won’t actually get my haircut until my hair grows another inch and a half so that I can get it cut into that bob I had it in for Lorna’s wedding.
I don’t mind waiting for the reward, because both hitting my half-year target and growing my hair are challenges. Obviously working out is a bit harder than growing my hair, but if you’ve ever shaved your hair off, you’ll know how annoying it is when you’re at that in-between stage. You feel like your hair’s not growing at all.
I kind of feel like my hair and my weight-loss are one and the same: I feel like they’re not going anywhere. I feel like I’m stuck.
I know that all I need to do is persevere, though, and everything will work out all right.
But right now, all I know is that I hit my half-year target, I’m really proud of that, and I’ll be even prouder when I can get my hair cut into a nice shape and have it look healthy and shining, and show off my reward from all that hard working out this year.
I just wish that my hair and my weight would get going. GO THE DISTANCE.
Of course, every time I say or think of anything to do with the Go The Distance challenge, this is all I think about:
Because I’m just that awesome.

[...] This is apparently the first post I made about my actual goal?! Shockingly bad form. I have two more posts, but they’re from 2011. [...]
