In Which Fatso Almost Doesn’t Make It

I panicked a lot tonight.

When I booked into my Spinning class last Wednesday morning, I didn’t make it into the class. I was on The Waiting List. I was fourth on The Waiting List, according to my online booking thingymajigger.

I’ve been waiting for the call all week.

The call never came.

I’ve been checking the website all day. I was second on The Waiting List this morning.

An hour before the class was due to start, just as I was getting ready to leave the house, I was first on the waiting list.

I went to The Water Palace anyway. If I didn’t get into class, I’d go into the gym and do the best I could in the gym. And if nothing else, I’d have the exercise of walking to and from The Water Palace.

I got to The Water Palace at about a quarter to eight – class “starts” at 8:20pm, but we get into the room at 8:10pm, and the bikes start getting put out at about 8:15pm.

So I was sitting in the front area of the café, waiting and waiting and waiting.

“Oh god,” I thought, “I’m not gonna get into class.”

Everybody else went past me, and I said the same thing: “I’m waiting for a space.”

And I made a face equivalent to this emoticon :| every time.

I went up to the front desk at 8:10pm, AND I GOT A SPOT.

I had already changed into my Spin shoes, so I click-clicked my way to the fitness suite, celebrated with Julie and Katie, set up my bike, peed, and then sweated for 45 minutes like a mad thing while I groused about the fact there were THREE EMPTY BIKES besides the one I’d taken over.

I had been planning on going to the gym afterwards, but my knee started hurting during lower-body stuff, so I gave it a miss tonight. I walked home, dragged myself up the stairs, and I’m eating cereal for dinner because I’m too tired to cook anything, and I forgot to take my little sister’s advice and make myself something microwaveable before I went.

Oh well.

I’m pretty happy with how things are going, this time around with me living on my own.

I’ve got my new Zumba class tomorrow, too, so we’ll see how that goes. It’s a class and an instructor I’ve never been to before. I’m pretty excited to be back at a Zumba class, and interested to see what the difference is between my on-hiatus class and this new one.

Holy crap that sounds like ordeal upon ordeal! I was just saying the other day that I refuse to queue for exercise equipment. There's no way I'm going on a waiting list for anything exercise related, you are a braver woman than I!

I wouldn't miss a class if I didn't have to! I'd happily go to the centre and wait, even if I didn't get into class. There's still the gym, after all! But I'm a little obsessed with my classes, I have to admit…

Hahah aren't you excellent, my little Missy!!! Talk about exercise dedication! May the dedication be with you… x

Dear Anononononymous: *laughs* I prefer the term "obsessed", if you please. ;) Only joking. I am very dedicated, yes. I love my classes! They kill me in all the best ways. :D
